7.30.2012 Monday Going into the safari
征非首日郊區行
六人小巴一路進
滿眼玉米與叢林
更見多處土木興
窮困世界景觀同
不論肯亞或廣東
天地分配哪原則
人種資源都不公

泥凸路上老車奔 (many bums on road
眾人顛簸欲斷魂
總算到達甜水鎮 (sweet water conserv.)
喜見動物續現身
(that's where the fun of this trip begins)
首見野豬羚羊群
還有珍鳥斑馬陣
大象犀牛與水牛
五獸其三已見成
(5 beasts here are elephant,buffalo,rhino,
Lion and leopard)
Visiting inhabitant of chimpanzee
One of the chimpanzees named Oscar stayed close to visitors, sometimes hit the electric wire fence with a branch to show off, while I was electric shocked when taking photos of a baby chimpenzee and my little finger accidentally touched the wire. A good strong hit that almost paralyzed that little finger....

7-31-2012 To Lake Nakuru
Breakfast dishes includes 雞胗 which is pretty tasty. Cold before sun comes up. An hour of bumpy country road again
before more stable civilized road. Soon we drove into the African "massage roads". About past midday we finally arrived Nakuru Lake to check in Hotel Sarova and had lunch. After that we went out to the lake beaches to see what we were attracted here to see.

On the rest stop to Masaimara we bought a black wood rhino and elephant at $15 each. I thought I got a good bargain. However, with the later shops, prices turn cheaper, and the last hotel offers the cheapest. Sigh! It is a different world, anyway!

包括彪豹未面會
旁館陳列有兩棲
蛙龜毒蛇與鱷魚
最是生猛眼鏡蛇
抬頭吐信欲襲擊
On Mada hotel at Jilima, Amboseli
Hot water at 6:30-8:00 PM, but atually just "not freezing" not hot at all.
Power off 12:00-5:00 AM, in which Grace panic for light at 2:00 AM as the hand-held lamp didn't work. A good taste of "total darkness" in Africa.
此処草原多老枯
地禿草黃少群鹿
但有冠鶴與象群
尤愛小象最超值
After dinner prepare luggages for returning home, with stopping overnight at Dubai. With all seen and done, it seems to be a relief to be home.
非洲最後蠻荒夜
奇聲異調似不歇
先似美人哼異調
再有鳥獸譜音諧
臨行好戲再重覆
群象奔行漫天霧
大象小解洪如瀑

肯亞之行今日止
臨走再嘗漫天土
非洲世界印象深
蠻荒八天超所值
Due to special occasion, our fleet went en route through
Namanga, a bordering town with lots of Muslim residents. It is a good relief that
the road of "African Massage" ends here.
On Mainland Chinese's uprising in wealth and its lack of manners:
It is surprisingly common that this expensive trip to Africa includes a lot of Chinese families that have kids among them. And more surprisingly, many of them look undisciplined or uneducated, but are actcually seated at the business class section.
On Starbuck's area while waiting for my flight to LA, I saw kids having fun at high noisees, which provoke some strange looks from other passengers. I couldn't help but went to tell one of the kids, who seems to be a smart girl. I said to her "小朋友,我們都是中國人，講話小聲一點，這裡是國際場合； Gladly the girl replied "知道了＂in a quite understanding and "awaking" tone. I feel good at what I have done, and just hope it made a valid improvement to change Chinese image, even though it is a very small case...
One last pleasant surprise,I found someone really "close" to me from our teammates:
團友耆老彭瑞斌 (Thomas Peng)
一路無緣聊生平
直到回航坐在側
才知系友兼近鄰
(台大經濟系，差21 屆，住附近 Chino.) Wow, I am 61, then he is 82! I wish I can survive such tough travel like him at his age! 加油!）

讀萬卷書,行萬里路. 此行四國,除德奧兩國曾遊歷過外, 捷克與匈牙利完全新鮮的經歷. 實際上,連德國的Dresden, Wurtzbert, 也未去過,因為那是東德的版圖, 與捷匈一樣是鐵幕之內的地方,大學考試不太出題考的.

Calligraphy Exhibition at Taipei
Finally the long planed and anticipated exhibition at 國父紀念館 took place on March 10, 2012. All the 20-30 students from Master Yuan's various classes joined together under Mr. Yuen in the opening ceremony. I was honored to be one of the few to do the on-site performance after him. Sort of overcoming my neverous hand, I performed writing 龍騰虎躍 at standing poise with my hands went free from support. It made me look like a pro, and I was happy with the result, even though I feel the 3rd word appeared not so well done.
My classmates from NTU Political department offered their presence and a big pot of beautiful orchids, which was placed in the entrance beside that of the Taipei Mayor Mr. L.C. Haw. Some of my classmates from Economic department showed up to support as well, and surprisingly including a special one, ie. Classmate 雷 has turned into a Buddhist nun under name of 寬一法師. It is considered a great reunion before some lunch and dinner following the exhibition day.
My primary vendor of quality equipments also show up from Taichung. JR, his wife and right handed man Lun made the trip up North to attend the ceremony. Besides, Robert Wu, my partner here, my buddy and also a hearty 24-hours trip companion, offer to set up and take down the display material and ship it back to LA. This work is critically needed for Mr. Yuen as he is a "semi-foreigner". It is first time for him to visit Taiwan actually as a mainlander.
I feel warm with so many supporters on my hobby in calligraphy. With this experience I am confident to lift my level another notch, with bigger characters, and next time probably with 隸書.

Erecting ROC flag in golf course
For years our favorite home course, Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hill has a wide display of national flags, but there is no one that represents our homeland Taiwan, Republic of China. Finally, I argued with the course management. I challenged them if this course is displaying all the flags to represent the golf spirit and honoring excellent golf athletes, why are they missing Taiwan where the world's Number one lady golfer comes from? They finally promised that they will put it up if there is a flag available.
I then sent email to Taiwan Economic & Culture Center in LA to request the flag. Before their positive reply, I happened to attend NTU alumi party on Janurary 6, and the head of the organization Mr. Ivan Chen was there as honorable guest. I went to him and address the need. He then wrote a message on his business card for approval. The next day I drove on purpose to the office and successfully take the flag with me. The following day, the office also replied favorably to grant a flag. I was impressed with the efficiency of the "embassy" here in LA.
And the following Wednesday, January 11, 2011 on my routine golf day, I delivered to the golf course and they keep the promise by putting it up on the spot that I picked, the second one near the entrance to the starter's booth. I feel very happy, so are my golf friends who took photos to mark such a memorable event.
I sent letter to Mr. Ivan Chen to report that I have done the job, and I hope more golfers do the same thing to their home courses, and more our flags will be flying freely and proudly in our second home of U.S.A.

I then sent email to Taiwan Economic & Culture Center in LA to request the flag. Before their positive reply, I happened to attend NTU alumi party on Janurary 6, and the head of the organization Mr. Ivan Chen was there as honorable guest. I went to him and address the need. He then wrote a message on his business card for approval. The next day I drove on purpose to the office and successfully take the flag with me. The following day, the office also replied favorably to grant a flag. I was impressed with the efficiency of the "embassy" here in LA.
